As most of you surely know we are currently working on
Age of Fear 2: The Chaos Lord*
I thought it will be quite fun to read about where we are and what are we planning:
Chaos Demons (100% done)
The new army set is complete now and we are balancing the whole thing with help of alpha-testers. As the name suggest it will contain mostly Chaos-related creatures like cultists, berserkers, mutated creatures and demons (of course!).
The general strategy will be based on summoning and destruction spells. As with other units all of them have unique abilities.
New units (90% done)
Currently we have designed 70+ unique units (together with Chaos Demons army set), whose we want to spread in campaign modes.
We plan to make each level more unique - in some situations you will fight dwarfs, while in next there will be bone dragon waiting for defeat.
The current army sets (Human Kingdon, Greenskins Horde, Undead Legion) will also receive few new troops to make their strategies more interesting.
Bosses (100% done)
Age of Fear had few boss-like creatures (Warogre, Undead King, etc.), but those were rather addiction to gameplay.
It seems the players like this concept if it's not overused. We have already prepared several tougher creatures, which will act as bosses.
Veterans (100% done)
Our current implementation already supports Veteran/Elite statuses (based on survived battles rather than experience). However, it breaks the vision we have in our current design, thus I don't think it will be enabled by default. However, we will surely leave option for players to turn it on.
Campaigns (10% done)
As in Age of Fear: The Undead King there will be two campaigns - one for Greenskins Horde and one for Chaos Demons.
We are currently working on Chaos Demons campaign, but it's not much more than bunch of written notes. Nevertheless, I can say the plot will surprise you on several occasions

Our writers confirmed interest in working on sequel, thus you can expect similar old-school fantasy style.
AI Enhancements (50% done)
Age of Fear was reviewed as having one of the best AI around and we want to keep that status

Our AI is already top-of-art, however we are testing several new concepts and we hope for AI much smarter than ever before in any strategy game.
Few new units:
Hellbat - fast unit with Fire Strike (designed as mage-killer):
Iron Golem - slow (but powerful!) tank with physical resistance:
